WHAT WE DO

The Heritage Center Food Pantry is registered with and approved by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB), a certified affiliate of Feeding America.

We have one function: Reducing the risk of hunger for residents in Nelson and surrounding counties. We provide those in need with fresh fruits and vegetables, canned and non-perishable items, meats, frozen foods, dairy products, breads, and bakery goods.

About Us

We provide food once a month:

On the third Thursday, 9 am to 11 am

Location:

1653 Thomas Nelson Hwy

Arrington, VA

OUR PROGRAM

On October 18, 2018, the Heritage Center Food Pantry officially opened its doors and heart to the residents of Nelson County and surrounding areas. We are registered with and approved by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, a certified affiliate of Feeding America, and the source of most of our food.

Anyone in need can use the service. Clients who are not already registered can fill in a Client Application Form when they arrive or by downloading it below.

We ask new clients for general information such as household size, income, other assistance they receive, and demographic data. There are income limitations for the USDA food we provide, but not for anything else. You can pick up food once a month.

Our goal is to provide an adequate amount of nutritious food to maintain and improve the health and well-being of residents in need. We typically provide fresh fruits and vegetables, canned and other non-perishable foods, meats, dairy, breads and bakery goods, and frozen foods. We also try to accommodate those with special dietary needs by providing some low-sodium items.

A significant percentage of our clients are young children, seniors with limited income, and single parents. Everyone in the community is welcome.
